Hi, my name is
Sahir Karani
I am a software engineer
I am a software engineer located in New York City with experience in full-stack development. I am a graduate of New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering where I majored in Computer Science and minored in Cyber Security. Currently, I am working as a software engineer at Amazon. I am experienced in a variety of programming languages and tools. I love learning new things and solving complex problems. One day, I hope to use my skills to help people in need and make an impact in the world. When I’m not working, I like to go climbing, play football, work out, and try out new restaurants and cuisines.
I started my software engineering journey during my sophomore year in college as a Networks Engineering Analyst at Deloitte. At Deloitte, I developed, tested, and managed Python programs to automate network infrastructure hardware. My next experience was working at JP Morgan Chase & Co. as a software engineer. There I worked on security controls for entitlement management using attribute-based access control. I also designed a policy decision point microservice to manage entitlements and showcased a live example in a proof of concept user interface utilizing Python, XACML, and Flask. Upon graduation, I joined Goldman Sachs as a software engineer on the Alternative Investments and Manager Selection team. Currently, I work at Amazon on the Amazon Prime Videos team.
My highlighted projects include CommUnity - an android application that helped individuals create philanthropic and sustainability initiatives related to public facilities and infrastructure. The CommUnity application won the Best Android Hack at HackNYU. Another project I worked on was Alertify - an Android Wear and Android Phone application which allowed users a quick and easy way to reach out to a friend or family member in an emergency. Alertify won the Best Software Hack at WearHacks New York. Another personal project is BlueCollr, a web application that allows regular people to connect with blue-collar workers to complete jobs. BlueCollr allows in-application chat, price negotiation, payment, and reviews. These are a few projects I've worked on, to see my full project list, click below!
